Systemic inflammatory response index as an independent predictor of all-cause mortality in patients receiving maintenance hemodialysis: a retrospective cohort study
Key takeaways
This study looked at 534 people on dialysis to see if a blood test score could predict who would die. The score, called the systemic inflammatory response index, measures signs of body-wide inflammation. People with higher scores had a higher chance of dying during the study. This shows a link between inflammation and death, but it does not prove that lowering the score prevents death.
