Effects of Brussels Chicory and Concurrent Exercise Training on HDL Function and Subclass Profiles in Overweight College Students: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial.
Key takeaways
This was a small pilot study in overweight college students who were split at random into three groups. One group took a supplement made from Brussels chicory, a leafy vegetable rich in plant compounds called phenolic acids. The other two added either supervised exercise or exercise with mindfulness training on top of the supplement. The report we have does not give the number of people or how long it ran, and it measured lab markers of good cholesterol function rather than any health outcome.
