Music medicine for diabetes, hypertension, and perceived stress: An open labelled randomized control trial in Sri Lanka.
Key takeaways
In Sri Lanka, 349 adults with type 2 diabetes were randomly split into two groups: 172 got music chosen for them on top of usual care, and 177 got usual care alone. The study tracked blood sugar control, blood pressure and how stressed people felt. Everyone knew which group they were in, which can push results in the direction people expect. No one in the study had kidney disease and no kidney measures were taken, so this is a hint about stress and blood pressure only. The length of follow-up and the results were not included in the abstract text received here.
